(NewsDakota.com) The State Class B Speech Tournament was held on Saturday in Bismarck, and plenty of area students competed exceptionally.

Nikki Bartholomay from Enderlin/Maple Valley and Cole Hovind from North Sargent each won state titles in Extemporaneous Speaking and Humorous Interpretation respectively. Bartholomay also won in Speech To Persuade.

Phillip Wanner from Wishek and Kaite Kuipers from Oakes finished second and fifth in Radio Broadcasting. 

Morgan Severson from Milnor was fifth in Extemporaneous Speaking.

Alex Howard from Litchville/Marion finished eight in Extemporaneous Programmed Reading.

Cole Hovind and Kendra Euscher from North Sargent finished third and fifth in Storytelling, while Sandra Mills from Oakes was sixth.

In Serious Duo, Sarabeth Waswich and Sierra McKeever from North Sargent were fifth.

Claire Brakke from Sargent Central and Becca Topp from Carrington took fourth and fifth in Poetry.

Barnes County North’s Emily Albrecht was second in Dramatic Interpretation.

In Inform, Julia Wold from Carrington was second, while Sasha Hovind from North Sargent was fifth. Wold was also second in Impromptu.

Ashton Gibons and Sam Egan from Enderlin/Maple Valley took eighth in Humorous Duo.

North Sargent’s Jacob Greenmyer was fourth in Impromptu, and Miranda Peterson from Carrington was sixth in Speech To Entertain.
