N.D. (AP) – An eastern North Dakota man is pleading not guilty to a manslaughter charge for a vehicle rollover crash that killed a passenger. Prosecutors say 25-year-old Keagan Haas, of Page, had been drinking and taking prescription pills before driving a Suburban off the road in Cass County last November.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s governor is fighting back against a Minnesota lawmaker who compared the state’s Depression-era Capitol building to an insurance office. Jack Dalrymple says the Capitol in Bismarck is a classic example of Chicago skyscraper design and says people who don’t appreciate it don’t know much about architecture. His comments after a Minnesota official said North Dakota’s Capitol is “embarrassing” and resembles a State Farm Insurance building.

Economists say there are signs that the higher energy and fuel prices are slowing growth in agriculture-dependent areas, while slower global growth has already harmed some rural areas that are dependent on agricultural sales. The survey includes data from North Dakota and nine other states.
