(NewsDakota.com) The LaMoure-Litchville/Marion baseball team earned a hard fought 4-3 road victory against the Central Cass Squirrels in their home opener on Thursday afternoon.
The Loboes (2-2) did not have the offensive muster they did on Tuesday against Enderln/Maple Valley, but in the end, they capitalized on rough pitching by Central Cass (1-2) in the sixth inning to earn the victory and take two of four on this road trip.
Zach Stemen, who himself struggled on the mound in the sixth, came back on for the seventh inning and earned his first win in Region I play this season. The senior gave up five hits and struck out seven batters. Stemen also had his first hit of the year, an RBI single in the second inning.
Devin Piehl had the best day with the bats for the Loboes, with a single and a double in the fifth and sixth respectively.
The Loboes next game will at long last be played at home on Tuesday April 24 against the Spartans of Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page at 5 p.m. Coverage from Townsend Field starts at 4:45 on Q101.1 FM and NewsDakota.com.
