City (NewsDakota.com) A Valley City man was injured in a rollover crash after he struck the back of a parked vehicle near the intersection of 5th avenue northwest and 9th street around 6:40pm Tuesday night.

Police say the driver 59-year-old Timothy M. Miller was extricated at the scene by 17-year-old Austin Ross using a scissors to cut the seatbelt to get Miller out before emergency personal arrived on the scene.

Sgt. Phil Hatcher says Austin Ross risked his own life by getting the driver out of the vehicle that was on its top with the engine at a high RPM.

Miller was taken to Mercy Hospital and treated for his injuries. Hatcher says Miller was cited for Careless Driving. He says both vehicles received significant damage.
