CITY (NewsDakota.com)–The Hi-Liner girls track team finished second, while the boys finsihed 11th at the Carrington Sports Boosters’ meet in Carrington yesterday.
The Hi-Liner girls scored 77 points, second to Carrington’s 124.5. The boys scored 20 points, with Rugby winning the meet with 120 points. Kindred was second with 114 points, and Jamestown was third with 104.3.
The girls did not win an individual title, but Molly Willson and Jenna Jacob continued their battle in the sprints. Willson was second in the 100-meter dash (12.84) and fourth in the 200-meter dash (26.71), while Jacob was third in the 100 (13.00) and fifth in the 200 (26.90).
Allyson Suhr was second in the 1600-meter run (5:37.31) with April Berntson third (5:37.52). The Hi-Liners also qualified their 400-meter relay, finishing second (52.31). They were third in the 800-meter relay (1:51.96).
Berntson added a fourth in the high jump (4’7″), Bekah Peterson was fifth in the 300-meter hurdles (50.12) and fifth in the triple jump (31′ 11 1/2″). Sarah Schauer was sixth in the pole vault (6’6″), Natalie Ley was seventh in the 3200-meter run (13:06.97), Abby Brown was seventh in the triple jump (31′ 5 1/4″), and Suhr added a seventh in the 400-meter dash (1:06.07). The 3200-meter relay team was eighth (11:44.71).
Paul Viland highlighted the boys day, winning the pole vault with a state-qualifying vault of 12 feet. The 800-meter relay team was fifth (1:39.78), the 400-meter relay was sixth (48.84), Casey Engelhard was sixth in the 800-meter run (2:17), and Steven Horner was eighth in the javelin throw (134′ 2″).
The Hi-Liners have a scheduled meet at home Thursday. They run at Kindred next Tuesday.
