CITY  (NewsDakota.com)–The Viking womens basketball team has landed more Twin Cities talent.

Head womens basketball coach Jill DeVries announced the signing of Ashli Lee of Robbinsdale-Cooper High School in New Hope, MN, a suburb of the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, to a letter of intent for the 2012-13 season.

Lee, from Brooklyn Park, MN, is a 5’9″ forward with an impressive resume.  She averaged 12.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, and recorded 68 steals her senior season.  She led the Hawks in scoring during a 23-5 season, and was named a 2012 North Suburban All-Conference selection after an honorable mention her junior year.

“Ashlil was the hardest working, most reliable player,” said Cooper head coach Jen Radermacher.  “She can post and rebound in the paint, but also has a great outside shot and hit many threes for us.”

“It’s exciting to think about her continuing her career because she hasn’t got to her full potential yet,” added Radermacher.

“We are very excited about Ashli,” said DeVries.  “She is a long athlete that can create havoc for opponents on the defensive end of the floor.  She has steadily improved her offensive skill-set and will only get better as a collegiate player.”

Lee joins a Viking team that advanced to the NAIA Division II national tournament the past two seasons.  This year’s Viking team will return intact, as there were no seniors active on the roster.  She will also join Sadiqah Jihad (Fr., Minneapolis, MN) as talent from the Twin Cities metro area on the Viking squad.
