CITY (NewsDakota.com) The city is deciding what steps to take to deal with a huge chunk of river bank erosion along Main Street in Valley City.
Kadrmas, Lee and Jackson Engineer Chad Petersen says one option is to drive sheet piling into the river bank. But that would cost an estimated $250,000 or more.
Mayor Bob Werkhoven who first noticed the erosion said why not have city crews fill the bank with yellow clay until the city determines what federal or state options are available, if any to pay for the repair.
Kadrmas, Lee and Jackson Engineer Eric Gilbertson says a permit from the Corps of Engineers is needed before work can begin.
