COOPERSTOWN, N.D. (AP) – Jury selection resumes today in Cooperstown for a man who’s charged with killing a North Dakota State University researcher. Daniel Wacht is accused of shooting and decapitating Kurt Johnson, who was last seen alive on New Year’s Eve 2010. Johnson’s severed head was found in Wacht’s basement, but his body hasn’t been found.
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – With corn planting swinging into high gear in the Upper Midwest, some farmers say it’s becoming a challenge to get enough seed. Biotech corn is in particularly short supply. That’s because farmers nationwide are planting one of the biggest corn crops in decades.
BURLINGTON, N.D. (AP) – Travis Johnson and Megan Albertson decided to mark their prom at Des Lacs-Burlington High School in true country style this weekend by forgoing a limousine in favor of a farm tractor. The two juniors rode the tractor to their prom, parking it overnight at a farmstead across from the school. Travis says he had to clean the farm implement and install some extra steps so it was easier for his date to climb in.
