(NewsDakota.com) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Bureau of Reclamation say the Jamestown Reservoir has reached its normal summer pool elevation of 1,431 feet.
Last year at this time, the reservoir was handling record amounts of water during spring flooding. The reservoir is north of Jamestown and provides flood protection for the city.
The current level is the target summer pool level which allows recreation and irrigation, but does not impact Arrowwood National Wildlife Refuge.
The Corps says Pipestem Reservoir, also north of Jamestown, is currently about five feet above the top of the conservation pool and “is storing water to be released over June, July and August.”
Downstream flows on the James River have crested says the Corps, and are now dropping.
