(NewsDakota.com) – A Cooperstown man is being inducted into the North Dakota National Guard Marksmanship Hall of Fame.

Sergeant 1st Class Gary Varberg will be inducted with several other National Guard Members during a ceremony on Saturday in Bismarck.

A release from the National Guard says Varberg “is the most acclaimed shooter in the history of the North Dakota National Guard.” He has 45 international match wins, and has competed in more than 100 marksmanship competitions during 30 years of shooting.

The Guard says no Guardsman has ever matched Varberg’s achievements. He is based with the 817th Engineer Company from Jamestown.

Also being inducted into the Marksmanship Hall of Fame are:
– The 2010 National Champion Biathlon Team (Maj. Eric Nordgren, of Pelican Rapids, Minn.; Lt. Blake Hillerson, of Fargo; Master Sgt. Kent Pulst and Spc. Brandon Pulst, both of Penn, N.D.; and coach Sgt. Jordan Becker , of Grand Forks, N.D.)
– Senior Master Sgt. (Ret.) Clayton Brennan of West Fargo
– Master Sgt. Norman Weber of Fargo
– Sgt. 1st Class (Ret.) Lynn Baltrusch of Fessenden
– Sgt. 1st Class (Ret.) Curtis Guenther of Williston
– Lt. Col. (Ret.) Don Wingerter of Bismarck
