Schulz, 77, of Oakes, North Dakota, passed away on March 29, 2012, in his home.

Paul Tracy was born in Oakes, April 13, 1934 to William and Lillian (Ulness) Schulz. He grew up in the Ashely, North Dakota area, where he began his schooling. Paul later moved with his family to Oakes, and continued his schooling at Oakes Public School. He was united in marriage to Sandra Griffin in 1952, and together they had a daughter, Pamela. They made their home in Fort Wayne, Indiana. In 1955, Paul returned to Oakes. He went into business with Bud Brown doing carpentry work for several years, before going out on his own. He married Mary Schnieder in June of 1957, and to this union five daughters were born, Debra, Loretta, Kathryn, Paula, and Julie. Paul was talented at whatever he did, and took pride in his work to make sure it was done precisely, including his brick laying. He enjoyed his annual mission trips down South to help those in need. His knowledge and expertise in building houses and churches were very much appreciated by those he helped. Paul loved all kinds of music, and he especially enjoyed playing the guitar with his buddy, Don Henjum. Paul was well known for his jokes, and he always had a “joke of the day” to tell.

He is survived by daughters, Pamela (Terry) Haven, Britton, SD, Kathy (Wayne) Doty, Paula (Craig) Nell, and Julie Schulz, all of Oakes; fifteen grandchildren; and twentyfour great-grandchildren. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, and daughters, Debra Schulz Selzler and Loretta Schulz.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Oakes. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Oakes. Burial will be at the Glover Cemetery.
