N.D. (AP) – A farmhand who was convicted of attempted murder for brandishing a gun in a western North Dakota courtroom will be sentenced this afternoon in Fargo. Vicente Chacano was convicted in February. Witnesses say he pulled the trigger several times and pointed the gun directly at the chest of prosecutor, but the weapon never fired.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A vehicle belonging to an 83-year-old woman who was slain in her Bismarck home was found yesterday in Fargo. Investigators say Ann Grenstiner’s vehicle was abandoned outside a bar. Her death’s been listed as a homicide.
WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s Health Department is citing a Montana company for dumping 400,000 gallons of raw sewage on fields in northwestern North Dakota. Hurley Enterprises could have to pay thousands of dollars in penalties. State officials say the company’s cooperating.
FORT YATES, N.D. (AP) – Standing Rock Sioux Chairman Charles Murphy will remain the tribe’s leader following a seven-hour Tribal Council hearing over allegations that he acted improperly while making various personnel moves. The council voted down three allegations after yesterday’s hearing. The Standing Rock Sioux Reservation straddles the North Dakota-South Dakota border.
