(NewsDakota.com)- Things didn’t go the Jimmies way on Saturday, but they turned around on Sunday and salvaged a split from the Trojans down in Madison, SD.

Dakota St. 6, Jamestown College 1

Four first-inning runs for the Trojans set the tone for Day 1 of the series. The Jimmies’ starter Anthony Fagan gave up just two hits in the innings, but two runs plated on errors.

Rudy Strnd homered in the 5th for JC’s only run of the game. Seth Doxey went the distance for DSU allowing just the one run on four hits.

Dakota St. 12, Jamestown College 5

This time it was the Jimmies jumping out early only to have Dakota St. answer in the bottom of the inning. Minchella Jonathan homered with two men on to give JC a 4-0 lead.

Another first inning strike from the Trojans narrowed the early Jamestown lead. Three straight two-out hits, including Max Garza’s two-run double pulled DSU within one.

Dakota St. took control of the game with a 7-run 5th inning. They used five hits, including a grand slam to take the lead. They added two more in the 6th to take a 12-5 win.

Jamestown College 3, Dakota St. 2

Adam Ranger picked up his fourth win of the season in Game 1 on Sunday. He went 5 1/3 giving up 2 runs on 5 hits. Nick Smart picked up the save.

Spencer Flaten drove in the first run on the game with a 3rd inning double. The Jimmies added two more in the 6th. Ranger surrendered single runs in the 4th and 6th.

Jamestown College 18, Dakota St. 6

The story of this game was the grand slams by back-up 1B Derek Wallace who had just 27 plate appearances coming into the game, hit two base clearing bombs.

Wallace hit his first with two outs in the third to extend Jamestown’s lead to 7-0. He hit another grand slam in the 6th. Wallace collected his third hit with a line drive off the left field fence.

Wallace drove in 8 runs and Flaten added his team-high 5th round-tripper of the season. Wes Hardy picked up the win for the Jimmies, he went 4 2/3 allowing 4 runs on 6 hits.
