(NewsDakota.com) – The director of the James River Senior Center said the organization is excited about its future move into the old Jamestown Hospital.

Laurie McGuire said Tuesday her organization will be one of the tenants at the Legacy Center, a redevelopment project by Luther Social Services at the old Jamestown Hospital that will include senior housing, a day care, and a wellness center, as well as the Senior Center.

McGuire said their entire operation, except its fleet of buses, will move into the old hospital. She said they are moving for more space and to expand their services, such as their catering business which will now have a much larger kitchen.

Initially the Senior Center planned to make the move by next January, but are now being told they may be able to move into the new facility this fall, said McGuire.

“(The redevelopment) is exciting for the community,” she said. “It’s really exciting for our program, and it’s really exciting for my staff. We’re going to come to work and we’re going to have an audience everyday… You’re going to have your seniors playing cards and kids playing on the playground. So you’re mixing every age group and that’s really exciting.”
