CITY  (NewsDakota.com)–The Viking baseball team has started their spring break trip to Tucson, Arizona with three straight wins.

Valley City State humbled Illinois Tech 17-6 and Norwich, VT 19-6 Sunday, then responded with a win over Dakota Wesleyan Monday.

Preston Jensen (Jr., Valley City, ND) was 3-4 with a double and an RBI, and Scott Stephenson (Ontario, CA) was 2-3 with five RBI, inclucing a homerun, in the win over Illinois Tech.  Ronnie Blagg (Jr., La Puente, CA) scored the win, throwing five innings, allowing four hits and one earned run, striking out four.

Josh Evans (Sr., Hayfield, MN) and Dan Buehner (So., Blaine, MN) each had three hits in the win over Norwich, VT.  Evans was 3-5 with five RBI.  Ryan Shaw (Jr., Cardale, MB) worked the win, allowing three runs on four hits over six innings, striking out 12.

Evans had three hits, with Jensen and Kyle Skinner (Sr., Seattle, WA) each adding two in the win over Dakota Wesleyan.  Derek Zitzow (Jr., Valley City, ND) earned the win, allowing two runs on six hits in six innings, striking out seven.

The Vikings are now 6-5 overall, and face St. Ambrose, IA, in an afternoon double-header tomorrow afternoon.
