N.D. (AP) – A Minnesota man who’s accused of threatening
the federal courthouse and city police department in Fargo is being
held without bond until a detention hearing later this week.
Forty-three-year-old Brian Jacobson of Battle Lake was arrested
this weekend after authorities say he tried to extort $50 million
from the U.S. Marshals Service and threatened to kidnap politicians
including U.S. Senator John Hoeven .         

WAHPETON, N.D. (AP) – A 35-year-old Wahpeton man pleaded guilty
to a negligent homicide charge for a fatal motorcycle crash last
fall. David Berning agreed to plead guilty after prosecutors said
they’d seek a sentence of no more than one year in prison.
     
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Seed giant Monsanto is planning
large-scale tests of the first government-approved biotech crop
that’s been developed specifically to deal with drought. The new
corn is being introduced as much of the U.S. remains abnormally
dry. If all goes well, it’ll be commercially available next year.
     
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – The University of North Dakota women’s
basketball team earned a berth in the Women’s Basketball
Invitational. It’s the program’s first NCAA Division One postseason
appearance. The Fighting Sioux are ranked 8th and will take on
top-seed Seattle on Thursday night.
