CITY (NewsDakota.com) The Barnes County Municipal Airport received the 2011 “General Aviation of the Year” award earlier this month during the Upper Midwest Aviation Symposium in Bismarck.

Some of the airports accomplishments last year included; the reconstruction of a 4,200 foot primary concrete runway in October of 2011. New runway lighting, wireless internet and digital television improvements to the terminal lounge area.

The airport will host a “Wings & Wheels Airshow on September 8 that could draw about 3,500 people to the upcoming event in Valley City.
