Childers, 81, of LaMoure, ND, passed away on March 6, 2012, in her home, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley, and with her family at her side.

Helen Louida Crowl, daughter of Robert and Lola (Kapple) Crowl was born May 14, 1930 at Bristow, Oklahoma. She was united in marriage to Calvin Cooper and together they had four children, Linda, Calvin, Shirley, and James. In 1961, Helen married Gene Childers and to this union Dale and Denise were born. Helen moved from Texas to LaMoure in 1999, where she lived up until the time of her death. She enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting, word search puzzles, and collecting porcelain dolls.

She is survived by her children, Linda (Wayne) Richter, Pana, IL, Calvin (Betty) Cooper, Phoenix, AZ, Shirley Daugherty, LaMoure, ND, James (Louise) Cooper, The Colony, TX, Dale (Katherine) Childers and Denise Phelps, all of LaMoure; fifteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Dorothy, Robert, Vera, and Delores. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and siblings, Richard, Agnes and Myrtle.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 12, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, LaMoure, ND, with Reverend Ken Schock officiating. Burial will be at Lone Star Cemetery, Bogata, Texas.

Helen’s family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice of the Red River Valley for their compassionate care that they extended to her.
