(NewsDakota.com) – A 62-year-old Valley City man is awaiting trial on several drug charges stemming from an arrest in Stutsman County last December.

Gary Luverne Hanson pleaded not guilty to the charges in Stutsman County District Court.

Stutsman County assistant state’s attorney Ashley Heitkamp says Hanson is charged with a Class A Felony of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

He also faces two Class B Felony charges of possession with intent to deliver marijuana and hashish; a Class C Felony of possession of drug paraphernalia other than marijuana; and a Misdemeanor A charge of possession of marijuana drug paraphernalia.

Hanson was arrested in December, and the case had its preliminary hearing last week during which judge Thomas Merrick determined there was probable cause for the state to move forward with its case. A date for a jury trial is expected to be set in the coming weeks.
