(NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown College wrestler Pat Nord has advanced to the semifinals of the NAIA National Wrestling Championships in Des Moines, Iowa.
Nord earned two victories Thursday during the opening day of wrestling. He knocked off Zachary Barkett (Cumberlands) by 9-5 decision in his first match, and then came from behind to pin Bryce (Hannibal-LaGrange) in 6:52 during his second match.
According to Jamestown College coach CJ Campbell, Nord won in “dramatic fashion, coming from behind with a three point deficit, reversing his opponent and earning a pin with eight seconds left in the match.”
On Friday morning, Nord picked up a 10-8 decision in the quarterfinals against Brian Lemmon (Southern Oregon).
Nord, a junior from of Enderlin, N.D., advances to the 165-pound semifinals Friday night where he’ll take on Brad Lower (Grand View).
Nord won the 165-pound title at the North Qualifying Group Tournament in Sioux City, Iowa on Feb. 18.
Sam Brown and Jaykob Miller are also wrestling for Jamestown College at Nationals. They both lost their matches at 157 pounds on Thursday, and will now have to work their way back through the wrestle backs.
