(NewsDakota.com) – Coborn’s grocery spokeswoman Emily Coborn said Friday that the grocery chain is in the “hiring process” as it prepares to open a new grocery store in Jamestown.

Emily Coborn said the employee-owned chain wants to have the Jamestown store up and running as soon as possible, and said they are hoping to be open by mid to late spring.

Coborn’s announced on Oct. 13, 2011, that it would establish a store in Jamestown in the Park Plaza Mall. Coborn’s said it would remodel and lease the 43,000 square foot space, which was previously home to Leever’s County Market.

On it’s Web site, Coborn’s says it is advertising for more than 80 positions at a store in Jamestown, including a position for a Liquor Department Manager. Coborn’s applied for and received an off-sale alcohol license from the city council in October for the period ending June, 2012.

Hugo’s Family Market in downtown Jamestown has been the only true grocery store in Jamestown since Leever’s County Market closed in November.

The Coborn’s store in Jamestown will be the first Coborn’s in North Dakota. The company is based in St. Cloud, Minn., and owns a few Cashwise Grocery Stores in North Dakota.
