(NewsDakota.com)- The postseason accolades keep coming for Jamestown College Senior Travis Burley, who led the Jimmies to a 25-6 record and a return trip to the National Tournament.
Yesterday, Burley was named the Association of Independent Institutions Player of the Year. This coming just hours after he was named the DAC Player of the Year.
Burley, a 2010-11 NAIA All-American, put up some impressive numbers again this year while also providing a defensive presence.
“Very well deserved,” said Jamestown College Head Coach Matt Murken. “He’s a hard worker who really has developed his game over the last two years.”
The Warrenton, GA native ended the regular season averaging 15.5 points per game and also pulling down 7.7 rebounds. Burley led the Jimmies in both categories, as well as blocks with 1.16 per game.
Coach Murken continued to say that Burley is “as tough of a competitor as I’ve been around.”
The Jimmies will make the trip to Branson, MO for the NAIA DII National Tournament beginning March 7th. The brackets come out tonight, stay tuned to NewsDakota.com for the broadcast schedule for the upcoming games.
