(NewsDakota.com)- The NAIA DII National Basketball Tournament brackets were released and the Jamestown College Jimmies now know who and when they will play.
The men picked up the tournament’s No. 10-seed and will play on Thursday, March 8th against University of St. Francis (Ind.). The game will be the second game of the day on Thursday, meaning the Jimmies will hit the floor around 10:15am.
The Cougars (21-10) out of the Mid-Central College Conference were the tournament’s runner-up. They lost in the title game to Grace College, 79-75.
Q Lewis is the leading scorer for St. Francis averaging just over 20 points per game.
If the Jimmies can get by the Cougars they will take on the winner of 7th-seeded Bellevue (Neb.) and Daemen (N.Y.) at noon on Friday.
The women will face-off against Union College (KY) on Wednesday morning at 8:30am. Jamestown picked up a three-seed in the bracket of eight teams.
Union (25-7) is the tournament champions of the Appalachian Athletic Conference. They are led by Junior Lindsey Waters and her 21.1 points per night. Waters also pulls down over 11 boards per game. This includes a monster night in the AAC semi-final round where she had 38 and 19.
A win for the Jimmies would set up a potential rematch with the two-time defending national champions, Northwestern College (IA). Jamestown beat Northwestern in early-November at the Civic Center, 64-62.
The first round games will be carried on Classic Hits KQDJ-AM.
