SD (NewsDakota.com)- The A.I.I. tournament’s top-seed had to play a true road game to win the conference championship and found themselves on the wrong end of an 80-71 decision.
As Jamestown College Head Coach Matt Murken has preached all season, “you can’t under estimate how hard it is to win on the road in college basketball,” his Jimmies found out the hard way Sunday night in Madison, SD.
Playing in a front of their home fans 3rd-seeded Dakota State upended the Jimmies in the tournament’s final. The two teams had meet twice this season withe Jamestown winning both the previous meetings.
The Trojans got four players into double-figures and used 21 second-half free throws to knock out the Jimmes. Spencer Adams led the way with 21.
Keith Biggers had 16 and 8, with four of those offensive rebounds.
Bryon Jones led the Jimmies with 21 points while knocking down a quintet of three-point bombs.
With their wins in the semi-finals both teams will be Branson, MO bound for the NAIA National Tournament which gets underway on March 7th.
