(NewsDakota.com) A #2 versus a #3 matchup rarely has the outcome that took place on Saturday night in round two of the Class B District 1 Girls Basketball tournament, but the second seeded Bobcats of North Sargent blew the third seeded Tornadoes from Oakes out of the gym by a score of 70-36.

The two teams traded barbs for the first four minutes of the game, but after that North Sargent expanded on their lead little by little, thanks in large part to the large number of fouls Oakes committed in the half, as well as the amount of free throws made by North Sargent. The Bobcats went 18 of 22 from the line in the first half, and fished the game 29 of 35. In contrast, Oakes went just five of nine in half one and six of 14 for the game.

Oakes (12-9) was lead by Karli Knutson who scored 10 points.

Next up for the Tornadoes is a contest Monday afternoon against #8 Hankinson for the right to go to the Region I Girls Basketball Tournament in Lisbon. Oakes defeated Hankinson 45-41 on January 13.
