CITY (NewsDakota.com) What many knew for months was made public Sunday during the District 24 Democratic committee selection process.

Veteran state House Legislators Ralph Metcalf and Phil Mueller decided not to run for another term.

The district 24 committee selected Valley City school board member Sharon Buhr and retired Enderlin School teacher Naomi Muscha to run as representatives on the Democratic ticket in the November election.

Valley City state Representative Ralph Metcalf says it was a tough decision but at age 76, it was time to step aside. Metcalf served on the House Appropriations and Human Resources committees since 1999.

Valley City state Representative Phil Mueller told the District 24 Democrats that it was time for him to spend more time with his family and to pursue other directions. Mueller served on the House Education and Agriculture committees since 1999.

Meanwhile, district 24 Democrats unanimously selected Valley City state Senator Larry Robinson to run for another 4 year term this November. Robinson has served on the Senator Appropriations committee since 1989.
