CITY, N.D. (AP) – Valley City residents voted yesterday
to retain their mayor. Bob Werkhoven received 57 percent of the
vote in yesterday’s recall election while former Police Chief Dean
Ross got 43 percent. City Commissioner Ken Evenson lost his
commission seat.
     
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Two 23-year-old men are facing prison time
after they pleaded guilty to a Belcourt home burglary. Frank
Patnaude of Belcourt faces up to five years in prison when he’s
sentenced in April. Brandin Decoteau of Bismarck faces 15 years
when he’s sentenced next month.     
  
MINOT, N.D. (AP) – State health officials are running
radioactivity tests this week on bags filled with an oil field
material that have been stacked in downtown Minot. Municipal
landfills in western North Dakota are increasingly rejecting oil
field waste because of elevated lead and radiation levels. Health
officials have said there is no risk to the public.
     
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The head of North Dakota’s Pipeline
Authority says the state may need to encourage more construction of
natural gas pipelines. The agency is commissioning a study of North
Dakota’s natural gas production trends and whether there’s enough
pipeline capacity to carry the fuel.
