Valley City State led 18-2 in the opening half, but saw the lead gradually cut to as few as eight before rallying for the win.

Brittany Lehner (So. Watertown, SD) led the way for the Vikings with 17 points. Alyssa Hummel (Jr., West Fargo, ND) added 11.

The Viking men led 3-0, then would not lead again until a 50-49 edge late in the game, but a huge free throw disparity led to a 67-59 loss to Mayville State.

The Comets were 34-44 from the line, while the Vikings were 12-23.

Sylvester Walker (Sr., St. Paul, MN) led the Vikings with 16. John Raquel (Jr., Hawthorne, CA) and Jason Perkins (Fr., Shakopee, MN) added 12 each. Gus Kueber (Jr., Aneta, ND) led the Comets with 20.

The Viking women play Sunday at 4:00 p.m. for the title of the tournament, facing either Jamestown College or Dickinson State. The men will play at 2:00 p.m. against either the Jimmies or Bluehawks for the consolation game.
