CITY (NewsDakota.com)–Valley City State will play host to the Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) Preseason basketball tournament at the W. E. Osmon Fieldhouse Saturday and Sunday.

 

The tournament welcomes in the four remaining teams that have kept an alliance through the former DAC structure. Dickinson State, Jamestown College, Mayville State, and Valley City State will all participate.

 

Saturday will see the Viking women and men play Mayville State. VCSU’s women are ranked second in the Association of Independent Institutions (AII) standings, and ar 13-8 overall. The Comet women are 12-6 overall, and ranked fifth in AII play.

 

The Viking men are also ranked second in the AII standings, and 23rd nationally, with a record of 16-5. The Comets are ranked fifth in AII play with a record of 11-8.

 

Jamestown College will face Dickinson State in womens and mens play on Saturday. The Jimmie women are the top ranked AII team, and ranked 13th nationally, with a record of 18-3. Dickinson State is unranked in AII play, and is 7-14 overall.

 

The Jimmie men are also the top-ranked AII team, and ranked 10th nationally, with a record of 17-4. The Bluehawks are ranked fourth in AII play, and have an overall record of 8-12.

 

The Viking vs. Comet matchups are at 2:00 p.m. Saturday. The Jimmies and Bluehawks play at 6:00 p.m. Losers face losers on Sunday, starting at 12:00 p.m. Winners face winners Sunday at 4:00 p.m.
