(Optimist Club) – The Jamestown Optimist Club has announced its Athletes of the Week for the week ending Jan. 14.

High School Girls: Alex Lind, Junior, gymnastics. Alex was a Top 6 place winner in all 5 events at the Wahpeton Invite. Her 9.5 on floor was a season high and good for 2nd place and her 36.7 in the all-around was also a season high and good for 2nd place as well. The meet had the top 3 teams in the state in attendance.

High School Boys: Andy Oslund, Sophomore, Swimming and Diving. Andy qualified for state in two events: 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke.

Female College Athlete of the Week: Taylor Brown, Freshman, Jimmie Women’s Track and Field. Taylor won the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 2 ¼ inches in her first meet of her Jimmie career at the Bemidji Super 8 Open on Saturday. Taylor also ran a leg on the 3rd place 4 x 400 meter relay to lead the team in points scored for the meet.

Male College Athlete of the Week: Dave Londe, Junior, Jimmie Men’s Track and Field. Londe, from Cheyenne, Wyo., ran a career best time of 16:30.18 in the 5000 meter run to place 3rd in the Bemidji Super 8 Open on Saturday in Bemidji, Minn.
