(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes School Board held their monthly meeting last week and discussed a few items.

First, the board accepted the resignation of long time teacher Bruce Junker, and the board will be seeking a new science teacher for the 2012-13 school year.

The locker room project on the north side of the north gym is still on schedule to be completed by May 1; the deadline given in the contract between the school and the contractor. Superintendent Art Conklin says the company that built the bleachers in the south gym is scheduled for a discussion soon with the board in regards to improving the bleachers; Conklin says it’s a space issue between each row with some of the rows having back supporters that aren’t found in the north gym.

The 2012-13 preliminary budget was also discussed. Conklin says the budget is around $3 million, and there should be no problems meeting the expectations and taking care of all the district’s needs for the next school year.
