(NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Fire Department extinguished a blaze in the back of a pickup about 4:30 a.m. this morning in the northeast part of town.

Sheldon Mohr, Training Officer with the Jamestown Fire Department, says the department arrived on scene to find trash in the back of a pickup on fire at 1634 5th Avenue Northeast. He says they quickly extinguished the blaze, preventing any damage to the pickup.

Mohr says it’s likely that smoking materials were the cause of the fire. A total of 30 firefighters responded to the call and were on scene about 40 minutes.

Mohr says it’s has been unseasonably slow for the fire department lately, which is obviously good news for the community of Jamestown.
