(NewsDakota.com) The Jamestown High School boys hockey team was able to hang with Minot High school for the first 17 minutes at Wilson Arena in Jamestown on Friday night. Unfortunately, it was only a third of the game.
By the end of the night, Minot had put seven goals on the scoreboard, and took down the Jays 7-3.
“It certainly didn’t help that we were in the penalty box as much as we were tonight.”said Jamestown head coach Matt Stockert. “I thought we got better in certain phases of the game, I thought our power play looked a little bit better than it has, and I think if we just continue to harp on the little things, I think any game can be won. We can obviously compete with anyone, because we’ve shown that this year, but I think the main difference tonight was the 12 to 13 minutes in the second period.”
Jamestown’s three goals came from Ben Sorenson, who scored two, including a power-play goal, and from Nick Jenson, also on the power-play.
With the loss, the Jays are now 2-7-1-1, and will next play in a Monday afternoon affair at Wilson Arena against the Dickinson Midgets. Coverage on Classic Hits KQDJ 1400-AM/97.1 FM starts at 1:45, with faceoff at 2 p.m.
