CITY  (VCSU Sports Information)–The Valley City State University Men’s basketball team had a hard time finding the bottom of the net in an exhibition game at the University of North Dakota as they were tripped up in the loss by a 69-46 score.

It looked as if the Vikings were going to make the game a nail biter early on. After trailing 7-2 in the early moments of the game, Valley City State worked their way back to a one point deficit, trailing 15-14 at the midway point of the opening half. From that point on it was all UND.

The University of North Dakota ended the first half on an offensive run that the Vikings couldn’t answer and UND took a 14 point halftime lead. The second half was just as tough for the Vikings.

Shooting woes hampered the visitors as the Vikings only connected on three long distance shots, shooting only 4-26 (14.8%) from the arc. For the games Valley City State shot 25.4% from the floor.

Leading scorer, junior Sekani Milligen was limited to 12 points for the Vikings, he was followed by guard AJ McDonald with 10 as the only other Viking in double figures.

The game was listed as an exhibition by the Vikings, therefore does not count on their overall record. Valley City State returns to the W. E. Osmon Fieldhouse for back to back games on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.

Northern New Mexico tips off with the Vikings at 7:00 pm on Saturday, while a 4:00 pm start is slated with Johnson and Wales-CO on Sunday afternoon at ‘The Bubble.’
