(NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High School boys basketball team is starting to get noticed. Winners of six games in a row, the Blue Jays moved into the Top 5 poll this week for the first time this season.
Jamestown (7-2, 5-1 West Region) is No. 5 in the state poll conducted by the North Dakota Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association. Jamestown was receiving votes last week. Bismarck (8-1) is a unanimous No. 1 in the boys poll. In the Class A girls poll, Bismarck Century (7-1) is atop the poll.
In the Class B boys Top 10 poll, North Star is No. 1, followed by Berthold, LaMoure, Dickinson Trinity and Central Cass. Area team Maple Valley and Griggs County Central are both receiving votes.
In the Class B girls poll, Carrington (7-0) remains a unanimous No. 1 team. Central Cass (6-0) is No. 2, setting up a showdown between the state’s top two teams Friday night in Carrington.
Kindred is No. 9, and area teams Linton-HMB, Napoleon and New Rockford-Sheyenne are receiving votes.
