N.D.- The Oakes High School wrestling team once again had a strong showing over the weekend, this time in Casselton at the Central Cass Letterman’s Tournament.

Oakes was the top team from North Dakota, with a team total of 213. Webster South Dakota, the defending Class B champs from the state won with a team score of 247. Oakes was followed by South Border (209), North Border/Cavalier (175), Lisbon (139), Hillsboro (127), Central Cass (116) and LaMoure (91).

Individually, Oakes had three champions: Kaleb Sell at 106 lbs, Cody Voegeli at 145 lbs and Ben Ketterling at 170 lbs. Erik Loepp finished in second at 113 lbs.

In addition, Oakes had three wrestlers finish fourth; Cole Ehrlin at 152 lbs, Trent Ptacek at 160 lbs, and Michael Kelly at Heavyweight. Three Tornadoes also finished in fifth place in their respective weight classes; Caden Coleman at 120 lbs, Jason Roth at 132 lbs, and Austin Foster at 22o lbs.

Next up for the team is a trip to Napoleon on Thursday January 12 at 6:30 p.m.
