CITY  (NewsDakota.com)–Two Hi-Liner wrestlers reached milestone achievements at the Bismarck Rotary Tournament this past weekend.

Brandon Larson broke the Hi-Liner record for wins and joined an elite class of multiple-time Hi-Liner champions at the Rotary event, while Shane Undem reached the 100-career win plateau on the first day of the tournament, as Valley City finished 13th overall, seventh among North Dakota teams, with 86 points.

Larson won the 195-pound class, and again was not challenged on the day.  He recorded three first-period falls, then defeated Rapid City Steven’s Jarren Jensen 9-5 in the finals.  The wins ran his total career victories number to 144, breaking two-time state champion Ace Anderson’s record fo 142.

With his second Rotary title, Larson  joined Anderson and Phil Reidman as the only Hi-Liners to win the event multiple times in their career.  Larson won the event at 160 last season.  His overall record now stands at 30-1 for 2011-12, with his only loss in the semi-finals of the Rumble on the Red, perhaps the toughest event in the upper midwest.

Zach Doty reached his 100th and 101st wins of his career on the opening day of the tournament, moving to the semi-finals with two wins by fall and a major decision.  He suffered an injury in the semi-finals, and was beaten by Jared Reis of Napoleon, the match leaving Doty unable to compete the second day of the tournament.

Shane Undem finished fourth, scoring four wins in the tournament.  His signature win of the tournament was in the consolation semifinals, a 4-1 in over Griffin Hieb of Aberdeen Central, the second-ranked wrestler in South Dakota.  Steven Horner placed eighth at 285, earning three wins in the tournament.

Valley City resumes dual competition at Wahpeton Tuesday night.
