N.D.- Two athletic teams for Oakes High School will be on the road Friday night, and one will continue into Saturday.

The Tornado basketball team is in Gwinner Friday night to go up against the North Sargent Bobcats in a District 1 contest. Oakes is 1-7 this season and 0-3 in District 1, and lead in scoring by senior Simon Maddock, who is averaging 15.7 points per game. The Bobcats are 4-5 overall, 1-1 in District 1 and are lead by senior Josh Hansana, who averages 16.1 points per game and is nine points away from 1,000 for his high school career. In addition, senior Jacob Greenmyer averages 14.1 points a game, and junior Zach Drevlow averages just under 13 points a game.

The Tornado wrestling team, which hasn’t competed since December 17, is on the road in Casselton for the Central Cass Tournament. The last time Oakes saw action, they finished second in the Linton Tournament. The Central Cass Tournament runs Friday and Saturday.
