CITY, N.D. (AP) – Former Valley City police chief Dean
Ross will be on the ballot in the city’s upcoming recall election
in January. He was suspended in early September amid allegations he
mishandled public money, an accusation he disputes. The city
dropped its allegations when Ross stepped down.
     
SPIRITWOOD, N.D. (AP) – The Barnes County North School Board
will hold a meeting on Wednesday in Spiritwood to get community
feedback after voters rejected a centralized school building three
times in about a year. Administrators hope to get input on what
steps the board should take.
     
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s darkhouse spearfishing
season is set to open on most state waters this Thursday. All
anglers will have to register with the state Game and Fish
Department. The season opens on Spiritwood Lake on January 1st.
     
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The president of the Bank of North Dakota
says flood-ravaged homeowners will be able to begin applying for
low-interest disaster loans later this week. The loans are part of
a disaster relief package approved by lawmakers. The $50 million
program will offer 20-year loans with 1 percent interest.
