N.D.- The start of the 2011-2012 season started the same way as last season for the Jamestown High School boys hockey team, a loss to the Grafton/Park River Spoilers; this time at Wilson Arena, by the final score of 5-2

The Blue Jays started out with a fast and furious pace, that included a goal for Jake Stilwell less than five minutes into the contest, with assists to Riley Schafer and Dakota Spitzer.

Not even 20 seconds later,  Jamestown lost the lead, and would not have it for the rest of the game. The Spoiler’s Peter Hills scored his first goal of the year 18 seconds later to tie the game. A late first period goal on the powerplay from Austin Campbell, and second periods goals by Zach Peterson, and another from Campbell on the man advantage sealed the fate of the contest, even though the Jays were able to cash in early in the third frame, courtesy of an unassisted goal by Schafer.

GPR put 42 shots on Jamestown goaltender Tygh Yatskis and Ben Walz. Walz faced all 12 shots in the third period, and stopped them all. Jamestown managed 22 shots on Zach Suda, including just three in the second period.

Jamestown falls to 0-1, and they play Tuesday, Nov. 29 on the road against Hazen/Beulah. A scheduled home game Saturday against Hazen/Beulah has been pushed back to Jan. 28.
