CITY (NewsDakota.com)–The Viking basketball teams were swept in a road double-header at MSU-Moorhead Tuesday night.

 

The Viking women were outpaced late in a 66-39 loss at Alex Nemzek. Valley City State was forced into 21 turnovers, and the Dragons scored 20 points off of those turnovers. The Vikings also surrendered 13 offensive rebounds.

 

It was a competitive first half, as the Vikings trailed 31-24 at the break. Katelyn Ralston (Jr., Dahlen, ND) led the Vikings with 10 points and four rebounds.

 

The Viking men put up a tough battle against the talented Dragons, dropping an 80-65 loss. The Vikings trailed by six at the break, and gave up a late 15-2 run that sealed the night.

 

The loss was positive, as the Dragons scored 90 points in a win over North Dakota State in their opening contest of the season, an exhibition win in Fargo at the Bison Sports Arena.

 

Aaron Duske (Soph., Buffalo, MN) led the Vikings with 13 points. Jason Perkins (Fr., Shakopee, MN) had another solid performance, scoring 12 points.

 

The men’s loss was considered an exhibition loss. They will travel to LaCrosse, WI to face NAIA schools Viterbo, WI and Waldorf, IA this weekend.

 

The women travel to Montana this weekend, facing Montana State-Northern and the University of Great Falls in Great Falls, MT.
