Jamestown, N.D….For the 107th time, the Jimmie and Vikings will rumble in college football Saturday in Valley City in the annual “Paint Bucket” game.
Valley City has ripped off three consecutive wins, and is ranked 23rd in the nation. The Jimmies are 2-2, and coming off a nice road win at Mayville last Saturday.
The Vikings dropped their season opener to Morningside, Iowa 35-17, and haven’t lost since. QB Tommy Zinke of Rolla, North Dakota is having a great season. The Junior leads the team in total offense with 982 yards, an average of 245 per game, and he has thrown for nine touchdowns, with only four interceptions through four games.
The Jimmies are getting a great season out of tailback Lance Johansen. The Junior from Devils Lake has rushed for 315 yards on only 43 carries, for an eye popping 7.3 yards per carry. He has reached the endzone four times.
Valley RB A.J. Pheifer is also enjoying a big season. The Senior from Buffalo, North Dakota has gained 389 yards on the ground for an aveage of 5.1 per carry, and he has reached pay dirt three times.
The game will also feaure two of the best receivers in the DAC. The Jimmies Max Boe, Senior from Wylie, Texas has 20 catches for 205 yards and a touchdown. The Vikings counter with Senior LeTheo Proctor from Anchorage, Alaska. The Senior had 22 catches for 323 yards and three T.D.’S.
“They have done a nice job possessing the ball, and controlling games” says Jimmie head coach Bud Etzold, “I am really impressed with the way they play. This will be one heck of a challenge for us, and we hope to hang in there and have a shot at the end.”
Jamestown has won the past five match-ups, including a 19-13 victory last year.
