(NewsDakota.com)–Emily Thompson of Carrington hammered her 1,000th career kill in volleyball on Thursday night in Lakota, as Carrington cruised to a 3-0 win over the home standing Raiders.

The Cardinal senior, who came within 1 kill of the milestone two nights earlier with a career high 39 kills against Midkota in a five set loss to the Mustangs, wasted no time on Thursday night.

On the first point of the night, given a perfect set from sophomore Josey Page, the 6’2 Thompson swatted the ball straight down for the milestone. Thompson finished the night with a match high 18 kills, giving her 1,017 for her career.

Thompson, who has verbally committed to play division one volleyball at the University of North Dakota next fall is a multiple sport athlete for the Cardinals, and was also selected as an all-state basketball player last year, leading the Cardinals to a state class B state title.  

 
 

Carrington defeated Lakota 3-0 (25-5, 25-10, 25-12), improving there season record to 18-2 (both losses to Midkota), & 3-1 in district 7 play. Josey Page led the Cardinals with 19 assists. Cardinal senior Sierra Rosenau added 9 kills in the win. Carrington will travel to Cooperstown next Tuesday night against Griggs County Central & the contest can be heard on www.newsdakota.com & 1600 KDAK.
