CITY (NewsDakota.com)–A Hi-Liner team that struggled to receive serve was beaten by Grand Forks Central 3-0 (25-9, 25-20, 25-15) at the Hi-Liner Activity Center in Valley City Thursday.
After taking a 5-2 lead in the first set, Valley City fell prey to hot Knight serving, falling behind 19-7, and eventually losing 23 of 27 points in a 25-9 loss.
Each of the next two sets saw the Knights pull away late in tightly-battled sets, with the third set at 15-10 Knights before a 10-of-15 point run to finish the match.
Valley Ctiy fell to 1-8 in Eastern Dakota Conference (EDC) play, and had their chances at escaping the play-in round of regional play compromised by dropping a match worth two EDC points. Central improved to 5-6 in league play.
The Hi-Liners play in the Lisbon pool of the Lisbon-Enderlin tournament this weekend, and play in a tournament in Fargo next weekend.
