M.N. – Thousands of North Dakota State University fans from across the state attended the big game between the Bison and the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers on September 24 to see the Bison upset the Big “10” football team at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
Before the game several people from the communities of Valley City, Jamestown, Bismarck and Fargo were spotted having fun tailgating in the Minnesota State Fair parking lot in St. Paul before being bused to the stadium 3 miles away in Minneapolis on the U of M campus.
The Bison won the game 37 to 24 shocking the home crowd to the delight of North Dakota State fans who were all smiles after the big game. The sports page headline in the Minneapolis Tribune read “Dakota Territory” referring to the two victories (2007) & (2011) the Bison have had in Minneapolis against the gophers.
