N.D.–At Jamestown College, the 2011-2012 arts season begins tonight with a performance by the world-renowned double reed ensemble New York Kammermusiker. The group was formed in 1969 by North Dakota native Ilonna Pederson.
Showcasing the sounds of oboes, bassoons and English horns, the New York Kammermusiker travels the world presenting a wide range of music, from the Renaissance through Contemporary periods, including many American works. Experiment and improvisation, as well as music written specifically for their unique sound, are important aspects of this group’s repertoire.
The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night in the Reiland Fine Arts Center’s DeNault Auditorium. Tickets are $20 and can be reserved by contacting the Box Office at (701) 252-3467 ext. 2435.
