Mark McKenzie (NewsDakota.com)…For only the second time in school history, the Jimmie football season will kick-off in the month of August.

Jamestown travels to Rapid City to face South Dakota Tech on Saturday in a non-conference match-up. The Hardrockers have left the DAC to play at the D-II level. Bud Etzold returns for his fourth year as head coach for the Jimmies “We have some familar faces back, and some faces that people aren’t familar with. The guys have been working hard, and I am excited to watch them play a game.”

Jamestown is looking to fill a big hole at quarterback, as two time All-Conference performer Mike Beehler is gone due to graduation. Brad Lint, Senior from Roseburg, Oregon will get the start in the season opener. The Jimmies are deep at wide reciever, led by Senior Max Boe. The Wylie, Texas native led the conference in many recieving stats last season, including recieving yards, yards per catch, and touchdowns.

Kick-off is set for 2:00 p.m. Central time on Saturday, with the broadcast on AM 1400 KQDJ and newsdakota.come. Etzold will join Mark McKenzie on the air at 9:06 a.m. Saturday for the season finale of the AM 1400 KQDJ Summer Sports Corner, and preview the 2011 Jimmies.
