CITY  (NewsDakota.com)–The Hi-Liner girls cross-country team turned in a superb performance yesterday, winning a competitive Northwood Invitational.

The Hi-Liners won the meet with 15 points, besting Class “A” schools Minot, Grand Forks Central, and Grand Forks Red River, along with top-ranked Class “B” power Rugby and fifth-ranked Griggs County Central

Three Hi-Liners placed in the top 20, with April Berntson leading the team at 6th (17:12).  Allyson Suhr was 11th (17:40) and Natalie Ley was 19th (18:08).  Barbara Zubrod and Jamie Ronning were 35th and 36th, respectively, to finish the scoring.

“The team had a great week of practice, they are getting healthier, and were really challenged this week to step it up on race day. Boy, did they come through,” said head coach Brian Engelhard.

On the boys side, Nick Lee led the varsity runners with a 30th-place performance (19:44).  Nathan Johnson, Seth Hanson, and Joey Aus ran in the junior high division, and all placed in the top 10.

The Hi-Liners compete at Wahpeton on Thursday, Septmeber 1st.
