N.D.(NewsDakota.com)…The 2011 NAIA Preseason Football poll has been released, and defending national champion Carroll College, of Helena, Montana is ranked number one.
Morningside, Iowa is picked second, St Xavier, Illinois is ranked third, St. Francis, Indiana is picked fourth, and MidAmerica Nazarene, Kansas is picked fifth. Sioux Falls, South Dakota annually is ranked near the top of the NAIA standings, but the Cougars have moved up to the NCAA D-II level, effective this Fall.
The Jimmie are rated 35th. Jamestown will open the season on Saturday, August 27th at Rapid City, South Dakota versus South Dakota Tech. The Jimmie home opener will take place on Saturday, September 10th versus D-III Opponent Wisconsin-Stoudt.
The Jimmie will also face 14th ranked Dickinson State twice this season. Jamestown will host the Hawks on Saturday, September 17th and travel to Dickinson on Saturday, October 29th.
The schedule doesn’t get any easier, as Jamestown will play at D-III Lacrosse-Wisconsin Saturday, October 8th, and travel to Chicago to wrap up the regular season on Saturday, November 12th versus third ranked St. Xavier.
